Kiely Service Co. is a standalone company residing in the Kiely Civil business unit of the Kiely Family of Companies specializing in turnkey engineering, procurement, and project management services for the natural gas, petroleum, water and wastewater industries. J.F. Kiely Service Co. performs work for publicly traded utility and energy companies, municipalities and private entities in multiple locations throughout Northeast.


J.F. Kiely Service Co. is seeking a CAD Technician with three to ten years of CAD drafting experience to further assist with the growth currently underway within the organization as a provider of engineering, consulting, and project management to the utility, natural gas, petroleum, and pipeline transportation sectors. 



  • Prepare layout and perform drafting tasks from simple instructions demonstrating a broad knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and CADWorx

  • Perform design on engineering projects under the direction and supervision of an engineer

  • Conducts mentoring of less-experienced drafters

  • Develops, implements, and enforces CAD file management, standards, and criteria

  • Performs advanced CAD drafting and design duties

  • Runs calculations utilizing CAD programs

  • Creates and Updates all type of drawings

  • Provides CAD training for new or less-experienced employees.

  • Deliver the required design drafting within project budget, schedule and performance criteria

  • Utilize CAD to generate required project drawings

  • Develop required standard details for utilization within a multitude of drawing packages


  • Associate degree from a technical or four-year school preferred with a related degree or certificate from an AutoCAD training program

  • Provide leadership and vision to the office in the area of CAD

  • Knowledge of engineering measurements, scales, calculations and estimates

  • Advanced AutoCAD and Civil 3D drafting skills, GIS experience a plus

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office products 

  • High degree of detail orientation

  • Strong problem solving abilities, organizational  and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of engineering design principles and construction methods

  • Ability to work with field employees and vendors as well as other disciplines

  • Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines

  • Strong oral/written communication skills and personal computer skills

  • Travel to project sites and client locations is a requirement
